Yet Another Oldies Station?

I know. There are more oldies stations on the internet than anyone can ever begin to keep track of. What sets mine apart?

1- I play nothing but the original 45 R.P.M. mono singles. No remakes that "feature one or more original members" of a vocal group or band. No alternate versions, or no live recordings, either.

2 - If I'm doing a show from, let's say, August of 1968, you will hear period-appropriate commercials, including a "Vote For Wallace" spot, and a "Reminder To Vote" PSA voiced by the late, great Merv Griffin.

3- If a show is set in a certain week, all of the "current" records are selected from the Billboard chart and the Cash Box chart for that week. Billboard, of course, is as close to definitive as it gets. But Cash Box? It tends to be more, shall we say, interesting. In other words, a lot of records charted higher on Cash Box than they did on Billboard. And a few Cash Box hits didn't crack Billboard's Hot 100 at all.

4- Just doing the research for any given week takes at least an hour. Then, I rank the 40 hits as I feel would have been done in any particular market. A Top 40 chart for CKLW in Windsor, Ontario (which aimed itself primarily at neighboring Detroit, Michigan) will be noticeably different from the same week for KFRC in San Franciso, California.

5- In other words, this is not just some random playlist I threw together in half an hour.
